About Fieldguide Farmhouse
Fieldguide Farmhouse is a venue that celebrates natural beauty. Our guests value a well maintained yet all organic lawn over a pristine golf course-like lawn putting pesticides into the ground and water. We prefer chippy natural wood exteriors over shiny plastic or vinyl. Fieldguide Farmhouse is a unique and stately 1910 four-square fieldstone farmhouse built by Dr. Andrew Baxter of Chicago. We're humbled to serve as the steward of this local landmark which is cherished by a long-line of owners, guests and beloved by the community. We welcome you and yours to our home to host your most memorable occasions!
The farmhouse sits atop six scenic acres overlooking Intermediate Lake, an all-sports lake, in Antrim County's upper Chain-of-Lakes. Our setting is secluded set back from a meandering county road bordered by hardwood forests and ever changing lake views. Enjoy the property's park-like landscape varying with wildflower meadows, tree groves, lawns and flower beds blooming with peonies, iris, bleeding heart, trillium, lilac, hasta, roses and ferns to name a few. Majestic trees such as Black Locust and cedar groves, larger than life Norway spruce, a mature Crimson King Maple, Silver Birch and Oaks surround the house. The property's diverse landscape is as intentional and stunning as each unique fieldstone that makes up the house.
Inside, a highly curated and current yet traditional and cozy design scheme decorates the house. Furnishings are a mix of family heirlooms, antiques or roadside finds (the best!) and typically purchased from Restoration Hardware, Pottery Barn and World Market. Walls are adorned with my mother's artwork, friend's, collected pieces and an annually rotating in-house artist gallery.
Time spent here naturally calls for celebrating and we love hosting. Accommodating adventure for our guests on and off of the trail is our passion. Welcome, we're so happy to have you!
